Meet the ELD Team

Mrs. Dobson is the Language Development Coach for Dunning. This is her eleventh year teaching (her eighth year at Dunning). After almost thirteen years working in the legal profession, she decided to return to school in order to become a teacher. Mrs. Dobson has degrees in Psychology (B.S.), Elementary Education (MAT), English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education (M.Ed.), and Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.), and she holds teaching certifications in Elementary Education (1-6) and English as a Second Language (K-12). Jaimie spent most of her life living in Boston before moving with her family to Framingham. While Mrs. Dobson greatly enjoys teaching students, she is also particularly interested in working with her fellow teachers to increase effective ELL instruction by raising awareness of language acquisition and cultural competence, and in bridging the gap between the school and home communities of EL students. Mrs. Dobson is passionate about working with children and being an advocate for all learners, and she loves coming to Dunning every day, especially because she learns so much from her students and peers!

Language Development Coach

My name is Claire Winhold, and this is my thirteenth year teaching English language learners at Dunning.  I teach 2nd and 3rd graders.  I love this job because I work with such wonderful children and their families -- from all over the world!  I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and I am certified in both English as a Second Language and in Elementary Education. Teaching children is my third career!  I grew up in Upstate New York, studied art in college and worked as a graphic artist at the New York State Museum in Albany for a number of years before becoming a teacher.  After that, I taught English as a Second Language to adults in and around Boston for many years.  I love to visit other countries and have taught English for a short time in China, Costa Rica and Mozambique.

ESL Teacher

Hello! My name is Suzanne Chlapowski and I am so excited to start my new position this year as the ELD teacher. I will be servicing ELL students in Kindergarten and First grade. I have been teaching for 28 years, mostly in First Grade. I have also taught ESL Grade One, ESL Grade Two, and I have taught Third Grade in a Co-Taught classroom of ELL and standard students. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a Masters' Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I also hold a license in Bilingual Education and used to teach Bilingual First Grade in Boston prior to teaching in Framingham.  I have taught at the Charlotte Dunning for 18 years and absolutely love working with second language learners! Personally, I have three grown children and I live in Milford. I love traveling and I do speak Spanish, so that comes in handy when traveling to Spanish-speaking countries. This summer, I will be taking a course in the Brazilian culture and I hope to learn some Portuguese.
